C'mon in and sit a spell!
So what's this all about, anyway?
This website came about after I became frustrated with what I was finding online when I searched for "Christian women's websites." What first looked like welcoming websites often included blatant statements or veiled implications that Catholic women were excluded from the group of "Christian women" for which the website was designed. Realizing that the many false teachings about Catholicism spread through fundamentalist Protestantism were on the majority of those sites (and as a convert from fundamentalist Protestantism, I recognize falsehoods when I see them), I decided to create my own site. From there, The Catholic Wife was born.
TheCatholicWife.com is not just about life as a Roman Catholic Wife - it is about living as a 21st century woman/wife/mother/daughter in the truest of all faiths. I want Roman Catholic women would feel welcome here and not like outsiders. But in a completely different spin from the sites mentioned earlier, I WELCOME non-Catholic women to this site. I even invite you to contact me with questions or comments. However, even if you disagree with me, I expect correspondence to be charitable and with respect or it will not be answered. I do love to hear from visitors.
Please feel free to look around. The sections of this site can be accessed through the links across the top of the page. God bless you and thank you for visiting!
NEWS & UPDATES
May 24, 2009 Update
I thought I better update this site since I have been absent. Since finishing grad school, plus adding a lot of outside stresses, health concerns, and other drama, I have begun evaluating certain aspects of my life. In fact, I have begun to resent the amount of time I actually spend online, sitting in front of this computer. As a result, I have severely reduced my internet time to see how I feel. I have found myself sleeping better and getting much more done around the house! I was on the computer so much for school that I have had to teach myself how to NOT be online. All of this has made me think and reassess things. I have decided to take a hiatus from updating this site. In all honesty, I need to see if this is the ministry the Lord is calling me to. Sometimes, I believe it is. Other times, I feel that He wants my efforts elsewhere. Since it is Spring, I am busy planting and gardening, visiting with family, getting my house clean, and spending time outside. I intend to approach all these things with a prayerful heart because I truly desire to know WHAT the Lord has in store for us. We have been experiencing really rough times for a while, including what can only be called spiritual warfare. If the Lord wills for me to continue this website, I pray that He shows me what direction He wants me to to take it in. If He doesn't desire that I continue this work, I pray that He shows me where my talents are best needed.
I will probably stop back by every once in a while and update the blog. But all articles and pages in development are presently on hold until I figure some things out. I thank all of you who have been friends and readers. I ask that you lift us up in prayer as I will continue to lift you all up in prayer.
This site is under the patronage of Our Lady of Guadalupe for the unceasing intercession to her Son on our behalf.
Blessed Mother Mary - pray for us.
The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?
